    Today, we have more than a half-million people living in our county.  According to the 2000 U.S. Census, Anne Arundel County is ranked 114 out of 3,141 counties in the United States, placing us among the most populated jurisdictions in the nation.

    Our police department continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of our communities and our citizens, in order to provide a safe and secure environment to live and work. Today, the Anne Arundel County Police Department has more than a 1,000 sworn and civilian members, including the Chaplains, Reserve Officers, and Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS).

    We continuously strive to be community-oriented, encouraging citizen involvement in preventing and reducing crime. As part of our on-going effort to increase community awareness, we have created this website to provide enhanced access to our agency.
