Counterfeit Checks Alert
The Palmetto Bank, Laurens, South Carolina, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit official checks bearing the institution's name are in circulation.
The counterfeit items display the routing number *011007092*, which is assigned to a MoneyGram Payment Systems, Inc. account, payable through the Bank of New York Mellon, Everett, Massachusetts. The Palmetto Bank issues its official checks through MoneyGram Payment System, Inc. The items are dissimilar to authentic official checks and when copied have a "VOID" background. A security feature statement is embedded in a darkened green top border and along the bottom border between two padlocks. The
 statement "This Check Void After 90 Days" is below the signature line.

The Palmetto Bank issues two types of authentic official checks: (1) a laser check and (2) a three-part left snap check. Both types have a green basket-weave background with an ornate green border. Authentic official laser checks are computer-generated in black print. Authentic three-part left snap official checks are printed in green ink and include a security feature statement centered below the top border.


Central Bancompany, Jefferson City, Missouri, a multi-bank holding company, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit Missouri Department of Revenue checks bearing the name Central Bank are in circulation. The Central Trust Bank (doing business as Central Bank), Jefferson City, Missouri, is a subsidiary of Central Bancompany.
The counterfeit items display the routing number *086500634*, which is assigned to Central Bank. The items are dissimilar to authentic state treasurer checks. They display the words "Missouri Department of Revenue" and a P.O. Box address in the top-left corner. The bank's name, address and telephone number are in the top-right area.

Authentic state treasurer checks have a two-tone background that fades from blue to green to blue. A security feature statement is shown vertically along the right border. The words "TREASURER OF THE STATE OF MISSOURI" or "MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE" are in the top center. The state seal is to the right of center below the date line. The bank's logo, name and location are centered at the bottom of the checks along with a security feature statement.

Legence Bank, Eldorado, Illinois, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit official checks bearing the institution's name are in circulation.

The counterfeit items display the routing number 081204867, which is assigned to Legence Bank. The items are similar to authentic official checks and display "Remitter:" on the left side of the items.

Authentic official checks are green with a security statement and padlock icon embedded within the right border. The bank's website is displayed below the bank's name and logo in the top-left corner.

Copies of a counterfeit item and an authentic check (VOID) are attached for your review. Be aware that the appearance of counterfeit items can be modified and that additional variations may be presented.


GBC International Bank, Los Angeles, California, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit expense checks bearing the institution's name are in circulation.

The counterfeit items display the routing number 122235902, which is assigned to GBC International Bank. The items have ornate borders on all sides with a security feature statement embedded within the top border. The words "PAY TO THE ORDER OF" are in the lower-left corner.

Authentic checks have blue top and side borders. The word "PAYEE" is displayed on the left side.

Macon Bank and Trust Company, Lafayette, Tennessee, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit cashier's checks bearing the institution's name are in circulation.

The counterfeit items display the routing number 064106283, which is assigned to Macon Bank and Trust Company. A security feature statement is shown along the bottom border between two padlocks. The words "Cashier's Check" are top-centered with the word "Date" appearing directly below. The word "Remitter" is displayed in the lower-left corner. The bank's location and a telephone number, which is not associated with the bank, appear below the bank's logo and name in the top-left corner.

Authentic cashier's checks display the routing numbers 064101204 or 064106283. The words "CASHIER'S CHECK" (in all capital letters) are top-centered. The word "Purchaser" appears below the bank's logo and name in the top-left corner, and the word "PURPOSE" appears in the lower-left corner.
